First Look: Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Cocktail’

The first look poster of Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Cocktail’ is out and the trailer doing rounds on the net is surely an impressive cocktail of Deepika Padukone’s glamour and Saif Ali Khan’s casanova act. The video has crossed 1 million views on Youtube.
The movie made under the direction of Homi Adajania is a story of three friends. Saif plays Gautam, who is a flirt, and Deepika plays the party loving Veronica. The third character in the film is the model-turned-actress Diana Penty who plays the role of Meera. The film also stars Randeep Hooda and Boman Irani in a special appearance. The film’s music is scored by Pritam & Yo Yo Honey Singh and is produced by Saif Ali Khan’s production house, Illuminati Films.
The film is also creating buzz as Deepika Padukone makes a full-fledged bikini debut in the film. “When you are shooting on a beach, you have to look sexy. However, the highlight of the film is not the bikini here. I remember people making a big deal about Priyanka (Chopra) wearing a swimsuit in Dostana,” said Deepika about her bikini scene in the film.

'It's not just about f***ing'

Randeep Hooda talks about his on-screen bedroom romps that have been in the news recently

After scorching the screen with his uninhabited act (of Babloo — the driver) in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Randep Hooda has developed a distinct image among his female fans.

And the actor admits he has no qualms with doing intimate bedroom scenes. Though initially, he was a little embarrassed when his female fans made some quirky requests, he is clear that he has no apprehensions getting cosy on the big screen.

Randeep recalls, “Some women at parties would come up to me and say, ‘We need a driver.’ Now, they were all married with their husbands standing just beside them. At times, I would go red in the face.”

The actor goes on to say that he actually finds emotional scenes tougher to shoot than romantic ones. “It’s fun doing such scenes with lovely ladies, ” says Randeep (in a naughty tone).
he actor who just returned from Sri Lanka after a shoot further explains, “Erotica in a film largely depends on the emotional state of the character and how a relationship is at a given stage. It’s not just about f***ing for God’s sake.”

Well Randeep, as long as women fancy your lovemaking, it’s fine.

An October wedding for Saif and Kareena?

Yesterday there was buzz once again about Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's wedding

The Internet was in a tizzy with various dates in October being mentioned. Considering that the Saifeena marriage has been taking place for the longest time possible — remember it was to take place in February this year?

Here’s one more date to add to the rumour mills. Last heard, Bebo will start shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film in Gujarat as soon as she wraps up her project with Madhur Bhandarkar.

While Saifu is presently busy shooting in Turkey followed by his home production. Till we hear it from the horse’s mouth, the guessing game continues.

Why is Kangna Ranaut silent?

Actress stays mum over the ongoing war of words between Ram Gopal Varma and Sanjay Dutt

While Ramu and Sanju fight it out in public, Kangna Ranaut who finds herself caught in the middle is maintaining total silence about the entire episode. Sources close to the actress state that she does not even want to take a ‘no comment’ stance.

In fact, she refuses to utter even a single word about it.

After the debacle of his recent release, Ramu had stated on his micro-blogging site that Dutt had forced him to drop Kangna from his film. Says a source, “Kangna wants to steer clear from any controversy and instead focus on her work.”

At one time Kangs was extremely friendly with both Sanjay and his wife Maanayata. Kangna’s personal rapport with the star had helped her professionally as well as she found herself in several films Dutt was part of.

But after a fall out over a year ago, the actress found herself at the receiving end from Dutt and his pals.

The schism in the friendship was evident when she was sidelined during the promotions of Rascals. She then acted difficult during the dubbing of the film. Apparently differences between the couple and her arose after she began talking about her proximity to them.

IPL Underbelly: Sofia Hayat invited Wayne Parnell at the rave party

PR woman asked model Sofia Hayat to get cricketers at the Juhu rave party to add a touch of glamour, reveal investigations

The ‘mystery’ woman who had arranged for cricketers Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell to be present during the rave party at Juhu’s Oakwood Premier hotel that was raided on Sunday, has been identified by cops. Ninety one people were detained during the police operation and the establishment’s director arrested.

The woman, Namrata Kumar, who is a public relations representative, had got in touch with Parnell through one of his friends, model and actress Sofia Hayat.

According to police officers, Hayat, who works for a magazine had posed for a photo shoot through which she got acquainted with Kumar. On Sunday, Kumar, who was assigned to make the party attractive and add glamour to it, asked Hayat to attend the event and also bring her friend Parnell. Kumar knew that if the South African cricketer came, he would get a few more players to the bash.

Party line?

In his statement to the police, Parnell had confirmed that he was invited by a friend, who knew a PR representative for the event. He said he had been told it was a birthday party. Kumar was called by Juhu police on Wednesday to record her statement.

She reportedly told cops that she was responsible for inviting high-profile guests and celebrities to the party and did not know there would be drugs. When contacted, Hayat said she knows Parnell as a friend, but has no connection with Rahul Sharma.

“I was going to meet Wayne at the party at 7 pm, but before I could reach, the police had begun the raid, ” she told MiD DAY, adding that she was aware the South African did not smoke or drink.

Police officers, however, said that when they raided the hotel, Hayat was present along with Parnell. But when they reached the terrace, she had gone down to the lobby to receive a few guests and left the venue as she learnt about the raid.

When this reporter asked Hayat whether she was the one who had invited Parnell for the party, she refused to comment. Cops added that among the 19 foreign nationals detained at the party, six were IPL cheer girls.

Mallika Sherawat and her devastating effects on a common man!!

What happens when an actress as hot as Mallika Sherawat attired in skimpy clothes comes face to face with a common man? Sure enough, the man finds it hard to keep his eyes off the assets generously revealed before him!!
This was exactly the situation when Bollywood’s sex kitten Mallika Sherawat all attired in sexy clothes sat in an auto rickshaw to shoot a sequence for her forthcoming ‘Kismat, Love, Pasia, Dilli’. The scene is a part of a song sequence where Mallika and her co-star Vivek Oberoi had to travel in an auto rickshaw. Mallika’s sensuous presence in the backseat made it difficult for the auto driver to concentrate on the roads and he could not resist the temptation of ogling at her into the rear view mirror of his auto. Being distracted, he almost bumped the vehicle into a nearby pole.
The director soon handled the situation and made Vivek drive the three-wheeler instead. Later the driver even confessed to Vivek that he will have sleepless nights, at least for a couple of days.
Meanwhile Mallika has already landed up in Cannes and she is all elated about it.
“Landed in Cannes this week, gorgeous weather here,” Mallika Sherawat tweeted Sunday. “Gonna chill for two days, lot of spa time, and shopping, will post pics soon,” she added. Mallika has also been invited by amfAR – The American Foundation for AIDS Research.

I am ready for a bikini, kissing and lovemaking scenes: Parineeti Chopra

I am ready for a bikini, kissing and lovemaking scenes: Parineeti Chopra

Newbie actress Parineeti Chopra, who is basking in the glory of her latest film "Ishaqzaade", says she is ready to don a bikini.

Parineeti, 24, started her career with "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl" in 2011 and said she has set no limitations for herself as an actress and will also do intimate scenes if script demands

"I have no limitations and that is because I believe in myself. When you finish reading a script and you still remember about that one kissing scene and think that the script is good... But just because it has a kissing scene, hence you will not do it.

This means that with what intention the writer must have wrote that scene, you have not understood it," Parneeti told. Even in "Ishaqzaade", there are few intimate scenes between her and co-star Arjun Kapoor.

"When I was reading this (Ishaqzaade) script, I did not think of love making or kissing scene. The placement of the scene in the movie is right and it is not that it has been put for fun or for everyone to enjoy.

"If you like the script for what it is... if the intention of the writer is to have a lovemaking scene, or kissing scene or bikini or dance or whatever, I will do it. I feel as an actor one must not have any inhibition," she said. "Ishaqzaade" is a romantic drama directed by Habib Faisal and produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films.

While the film is the launch pad for Arjun, it is the second outing for Faisal as a director after "Do Dooni Chaar". The film released on May 11 is doing well at the box office and has collected over Rs 16 crore in its first weekend.

It is believed that the film is made at a budget of Rs 25 crore. The rustic love story has turned out to be fifth biggest first day opener after "Agneepath" (Rs 23 crore), "Housefull 2" (Rs 14 crore), "Agent Vinod" (Rs 10 crore) and "Jannat 2"

'I almost kissed my driver'

Life's been on an upswing for Shenaz Treasuryvala post Delhi Belly. "I have people chasing me shouting Delhi Belly and Sonia not just in India, but even in the US, " says the chirpy actress.

Shenaz, who's been a part of an American TV show for the past two years, is currently in Mumbai to shoot for a film. “It's a fun script and I am excited to be back in the thick of things in Bollywood, ” says Shenaz. She spoke to CS about straddling the best of both industries.

Itchy feet
I enjoy being trans-continental. I believe I can live and work between India and the US. I like living in two worlds. Life is exciting!

Being a vagabond is in my genes, and with all the travel I've done and the countries I've lived in, I am not able to settle down in one place.

Why should I when I can live everywhere? I have always had itchy feet and the desire to explore. Everytime things get monotonous, I move countries. And then when I come back, I'm a fresh face again (laughs).

Role play
I think I can pull off any role. Being on a daily show, and shooting five days a week for the past two years has definitely made me a more confident and competent actress. Nothing works better than experience.

I had pages of dialogues to remember and had to be quick on my feet and now I don't think there is any role I cannot play. Having said that, my favourite is comedy. I think that is my forte!

I also did a one woman solo show on stage, in New York. It got a lot of laughs. It was about the life of a Bollywood actress. I wrote it for the US audience.

Life in the Big Apple
What I loved about New York was the access to some great writing and acting schools, which helped me hone my craft. So after my shoot, I'd be rushing off forclasses every evening.

I also tried to take as much advantage of the theatre and the museums as I could. I feel that I have had so much creative growth in the past two years. The flip side was that I always felt that I needed to do something in NYC, and that I was wasting my time. I feel more peaceful after coming to Bombay.

Moreover, I lived alone and had to do all the household chores on my own; cook, clean and wash dishes. That's the worst, I hate washing dishes more than anything else.

I had a walk-up apartment in New York – three flights up, and I had to carry my bags, groceries, suitcases everything up and down by myself. When I got here and the driver carried my bag up the stairs, I almost kissed him. I feel we Indian girls are spoilt for their choices (giggles).

Why is Gauri missing from Shah Rukh's side at IPL matches?

Once inseparable at high-profile parties, Gauri Khan suddenly seems to have disappeared from hubby Shah Rukh's side, even from IPL matches

This year, the Kolkata Knight Riders seem to be on a winning streak, but Gauri Khan isn’t on the stands to cheer the team’s victory.

In fact, the star wife who used to accompany hubby Shah Rukh to the matches (with their gang of friends) as well as to high-profile dos has been missing in action for quite a while now.

Is it her foray into interior design — she’s tied up with a real estate firm to style couture penthouses in Pune — that is keeping her busy? Or perhaps the recent spate of controversies is making her media shy?

Last week, SRK along with his sister Shenaz and children Aryan and Suhana was spotted at a Bandra nightspot. Gauri was missing again.

Is she bent on maintaining a low profile still? Come to think of it when was the last time the couple stepped out together?

Mallika's ample assets distracts auto driver

With auto driver distracted by passenger Mallika Sherawat's ample assets, co-star Vivek Oberoi had to take his place behind the wheels at a shoot

Mallika Sherawat is one lady who is utterly comfortable rocking her booty in rather revealing clothes. This time, it was an auto driver who got a tad uncomfortable with it, and her co-star Vivek Oberoi had to step in to salvage the situation.

Apparently, Vivek and Mallika were shooting for a song in which they had to travel in an auto rickshaw. But the sequence led to an unpleasant situation when Mallika’s revealing outfit and hourglass figure got a little too much for the driver to handle.

The poor chap turned out to be a huge fan of hers and seemed totally overwhelmed by her presence in the back seat. And this resulted in him hardly being able to steer the three-wheeler as per the need of the scene.

Perhaps the driver just couldn’t resist taking a peek into the rear view mirror to have a good look at his famous passenger and that proved to be quite risky. An insider from the set reveals, “Vivek and Mallika were shooting for a song sequence and we had arranged for an auto driver as well.

For this particular shot, Mallika had worn some really racy clothes and that appeared to be the root cause of distraction. The driver just could not get the shot right. We had about 15 takes and at one point, he even almost bumped the vehicle into a nearby pole!”

In the end, the crew had no option but to improvise. They altered the sequence a bit and got Vivek Oberoi to drive the rickshaw himself. The driver, unaffected by these frustrating developments, even confessed to Vivek that he’d find it hard to sleep at night at least for a couple of days!

Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha promote ‘Rowdy Rathore’

Akshay Kumar is definitely kicked up about his forthcoming ‘Rowdy Rathore’ as it is his return to his first love, i.e., action films. The film is directed by Prabhudeva and Akshay is all praises for him.
“I think this the perfect comeback. What is better than the guy who wanted such a good action film, is not directing ‘Rowdy Rathore’. Prabhu has action and more action. His mind is full of action and he choreographs action,” he said.
The film has completed its first stage and both Akshay and Sonkashi are busy these days with the promotion of the flick. At one such promotional event, the stars were made to travel in a vehicle next to an auto rickshaw race organised by the team.
“I was asked to stand in the jeep. Whatever has been told to me I will do. When I was sitting in the jeep I said many times that give me also the auto rickshaw to ride. Maybe the reason was that I don’t even have a license to drive an auto. You have to follow the rules,” Akshay Kumar told reporters.
The actors looked rowdy and attractive as they both turned up in pink at the event. “It’s not only pink but yellow, red all are rowdy. When I got these clothes for the first time, I was shocked but then I got used to it. A lot of people like to wear such clothes. This is just a character and I would love to play it,” Akshay was quoted saying.
Check out Akshay and Sonakshi exuding naturally strong chemistry at the promotional event…….

Hot Esha Gupta to show her cooler side in ‘Chakravyuh’

Esha Gupta raised the hotness quotient in the glamour world with her sizzling photo shoot for the Kingfisher calendar. Taking her glamorous image ahead, she stepped into Bollywood with a sensuous and bold role in her latest release ‘Jannat 2’. Now, the girl is all set to show her other talents by appearing in a deglamourised avatar in Prakash Jha’s ‘Chakravyuh’. She will star along side Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpai, Kabir Bedi and Om Puri.
“It’s a de-glam role. I am playing a IPS officer and you will see me in uniform,” says Esha Gupta, adding, “When I met Prakash Jha, he was really impressed with my Hindi and that I was confident about what I was doing. The first time when I met him, I said, ‘If you direct me well, I will give you what you want for the character. I am ready to be moulded in any form that you want, I am just like clay right now.”
Prakash Jha is training her to play the cop and Esha is all praises about him. “Prakash Jha is my only trainer. When you have someone like Prakash Jha, you don’t need a trainer because he knows what he exactly wants,” she says.

Ishaqzaade is a good watch

By: He Who Must Not Be Named

Cast: Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Anil Rastogi, Pravin Chandra, Mohd. Hafeez, Aaftab Ahmed, Gauhar Khan

Music: Amit Trivedi

Producer: Aditya Chopra

Director: Habib Faisal

Rating: ***

If you are from Noth India, you have already seen ‘Ishaqzaade’ in your everyday life. In case you hail from any other part from this country, YRF’s latest flick gives you an interesting peek into this land where treachery is a virtue, muscle power equates manhood, family honour lies in your daughter’s virginity, love is a crime and hate unites.

Yes, it all happens in every nondescript, grubby town of Uttar Pradesh and certainly in Almore as well where Parma (Arjun Kapoor) and Zoya (Parineeti Chopra) grow up hating each other. Why... because their respective families are baying for each other’s bloods over a legislative assembly seat.

Amidst the several rounds of gunfires and tight slaps the two eventually come close and seem to look like every second rebel couple before Parma delivers a coup-de-grace and shocks everyone watching his adorable act. After all he has grown up in Chauhans’ ‘Mardon ki haveli’ and hence starts another round of tiffs and gore.

Along comes the Chand baby (Gauhar Khan) a somewhat sane voice in this maddening crowd. But hers is a voice too feeble to be heard in this badland of hooligans.

Love does make a comeback in their lives but will they be able to survive the onslaught of these bloodthirsty boors? Well, for that you have to pay a visit to these Ishaqzaade, who have done a fairly decent job in this tough love story.

Parineeti Chopra deserves a special mention for her portrayal of a headstrong girl, going through one emotional turmoil after other. She looks promising for several author backed roles which might come her way after Ishaqzaade. But Katrinas and Deepikas need not worry; she belongs to Vidya Balan’s clan.

Arjun Kapoor makes a fairly decent debut too. Though his churlish UP lad lacks the required diction and accent, he makes up for them with his high-intensity performance. Sure he is not going away anytime soon.

Gauhar Khan remains an unexplored gem. It never ceases to amaze me why no one gives her that much deserved chance apart from YRF. She certainly deserves it and much more respect than being an item girl.

The screenplay is taut and Habib Faisal displays his grip over the story especially in the first half. He is certainly not one of those armchair directors. He shows his prowess with the powerful dialogues and feisty direction. He is someone who actually senses the pulse of this country’s middle class. More power to you, mate.

Music by Amit Trivedi is rustic and captures the essence of small towns quite well.

Ishaqzaade looks a tad bit stretched in the second half but it certainly is not a ‘dangerous ishq’ which will bore you for too long.

Go watch it, if you want to get a raw taste of North India. Perhaps then you will understand how ‘dangerous’ it is to be an ‘Ishaqzaade’ in this mad, mad land.

'Bhatts wanted to step up the sexuality and Prachi was not willing'

Filmmaker Kunal Deshmukh talks about highlighting the illegal arms trade in Jannat 2 and his working relationship with the Bhatts

Vishesh Films’ office at Khar is buzzing with activity. Kunal Deshmukh is seated in his cabin, busy juggling phone calls. The director of films such as Jannat and Tum Mile makes time to discuss his next venture Jannat 2 and the marked improvement in the fortunes of his leading man, Emraan Hashmi.

How did you decide on dealings in illegal arms as the film’s theme?
Urban crime and gun-related deaths are on the rise. The youth’s easy access to cheap weapons was a subject that I really wanted to deal with. Knowing that it’s an Emraan Hashmi film from the Bhatt camp, we needed to put in good songs and varnish to make it entertaining.

What prompted you to turn Jannat into a franchise?
When I wrote this script, I was struggling to come up with an entertaining name. The Bhatts suggested a Jannat franchise. I decided to take up the challenge and re-wrote and tweaked the film to fit into the Jannat mould.

So now it’s a franchise with the same fundamental building blocks and entertainment quotient as Jannat; but it has a different character with a different setting.

Emraan Hashmi has now become a bankable star after back-to-back hits with The Dirty Picture and Once Upon A time In Mumbaai. Vishesh Films had supported him for long; now do you think it’s payback time for Emraan?
Vishesh Films has invested time and effort in building a star. Yash Raj Films was instrumental in pushing Shah Rukh Khan but that does not mean that when he became a star, he turned his back on them. Vishesh Films has really built Emraan up to a point where he has blossomed and got a fan following; now it’s time for Vishesh Films to reap the rewards.

Why do all Vishesh Film products have a high content of bold lovemaking scenes? Will it be the same for Jannat 2?
A little bit of sexuality is expected from the Bhatts. I remember audiences were really disappointed because there was no lovemaking or kissing scene in Tum Mile. Jannat 2 is a love story and the culmination of love is in lovemaking. There is one scene of lovemaking but the story does not revolve around that.

Prachi Desai was the original choice for the female lead; how did Esha Gupta come on board?
Prachi (Desai) was signed and we were slated to start the shoot within a week’s time but the Bhatts wanted to step up the sexuality and Prachi was not willing. I have great respect for her as she was very clear about what she was willing to do.

We had tweaked the script and added a few things that she was not comfortable with. Mukeshji (Bhatt) had met Esha (Gupta) for another Vishesh Film and recommended her to me.

Are heroines so interchangeable?
At first, I was apprehensive as Prachi brought in a certain level of acting and shared a good chemistry with Emraan. But when I tested Esha, she was very good too.

Esha has signed four major films (Jannat 2, Raaz 3, Jism 2 and Chakravyuh) without a single release.
It speaks volumes about her talent. She was offered Raaz 3 after the Bhatts saw the rushes of Jannat 2. Based on these two films, Prakash Jha has picked her for Chakravyuh. Unlike other actresses, I don’t see her getting tired.

She finishes one film and gets onto another. She is hot, good-looking, bold, brave, talented and hardworking. Nothing can hold her back; she’s going to be a star.

How involved are the Bhatts once the film goes on the floors?
Mahesh Bhatt, as a creative entity, wants to bring out the best in you. He doesn’t want you to make films like him. He keeps saying, ‘I need to see your voice in the film’ That is why Blood Money is different from Murder 2 or Tum Mile. Yes, in all these films the drama quotient is really high but that’s the schooling of the Bhatt camp.

Malaika Arora Khan balances her family and commitments

Salman Khan’s arrest was a rude shock to the Khan family and apparently all the family members are quite disturbed as of now. So, it was definitely a sticky situation for Malaika when Sahara One executives asked her to report on the sets of Suniel Shetty’s Biggest Loser Jeetega Grand Finale today. Malaika had previously committed to perform a dance number for the grand finale of the show.
So, the lady consulted her husband Arbaaz Khan and the family and with their permission has decided to keep her commitment. So, the show today will have the always perfect Malaika’s performance in it.
Malaika says “In view of the family crisis I hoped that the shoot could be delayed. But I understand that it is a telecast issue and that it could not be postponed. It was a commitment and that’s the only reason I am doing it.”

Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif to have fist-to-fist clash in ‘Dhoom 3′

What we already know is the fact that both Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif are undergoing strenuous training for their fight sequences in the forthcoming ‘Dhoom 3’ where Aamir Khan is playing super villain and Kats is on the good side.
What we have come to know lately is that petite Katrina will be matching some very breathtaking fight sequences with our perfectionist Aamir Khan. As such Yash Raj Films’ ‘Dhoom 3’ will be having serious fist-to-fist clashes with perfectionist Khan in the flick.
The sequences are very precious to the film and will be shot aesthetically with the able support of the latest in technology. In fact, Aamir wants this action sequence to be so well synchronised that he has expressed his willingness to train with Katrina to perfect each other’s moves. However, since he is busy these days with the promotion of his forthcoming TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’, he will start the training schedule only after his show goes on air.
It would be a real visual treat to see the two actors matching their powers against each other!!

Jannat 2: Sleazy entertaining watch with no depth

Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Esha Gupta, Manish Choudhary

Direction: Kunal Deshmukh

Rating: **1/2

Emraan Hashmi is back on the silver screen to once again find his “Jannat” on earth but though this so-called-sequel has an engaging lore, it remains trapped in the bowels of some googly-eyed Bolly romance.

The background
Sonu Dilli (Emraan Hashmi) is an illegal arms dealer with ample amount of street smarts and a silver tongue. So you know the “Raaz” of the peppy one-liners now! All starts well for this “bi-ness”man until he suddenly decides to fall in love with Jhanvi (Esha Gupta) (with a stress on the word ‘suddenly’).

But madam doctor has a simple life of healing people for free and wants a regular guy and so our comic criminal has to reform himself.

But despite the obvious problems of finding a good job for an ex-con these days, those problems are hardly of any consideration to Mr. “Kutti Kameeni Cheez” aka Sonu who faces the whip from ACP Pratap Raghuvanshi (Randeep Hooda) and is forced to become an informer.

Now Sonu’s life stands on a knife edge and he must find a way to escape the murky alleys of Delhi to a new life with his lady love.

The story
Though touted as a sequel Jannat 2 is a standalone venture with just the leading man and the director as common to the 2008 blockbuster and sadly this crime thriller has one of the most age old diseases of Bollywood thrillers- “love at first sight”.

Yup it had its soul in the right place and had a gripping premise for something of a novelty in Bollywood but alas romantic ‘tamasha’ got the better of it. No I am not saying that Jannat 2 offers some mind-blowing insight into the previously uncharted territory of arms dealing rackets but it did have the foothold.

All went wrong when Sonu fell in love and the forced doses of romantic sweeteners made this otherwise tangy offering somewhat less edible.

So you have the gripping sequences with some predictable/unpredictable twists and a bold epilogue but the infraction caused by hand holding, coffee slurping and singing-dancing romance takes the charm away from what could have been a rather quirky crime thriller.

Having said that however, Jannat 2 does have its hooks and does manage to keep you engaged despite mild annoyances (which includes some stupid character sketches- a young lady doctor managing a large clinic in Delhi with no idea of funds? What the hell!).

The direction and technique
Jannat is a sleazy entertaining watch so far as visual prowess is concerned.

The camera drags you through alleys, dargas and even offers a small dose of desi parkour on the rooftops; yeah you will sweat with the characters and that’s not in a bad sense either.
The tight screenplay in parts where the crime thriller comes out of being a mere backdrop is a delight to watch as well, not to mention the slightly off the rocker ending.

Thumbs up to director Kunal Deshmukh for milking as much possible from what was intended just as a backdrop through effective cinematic handling but for the lovey-dovey parts I have just one word-cliché!

The acting
Emraan Hashmi is lovable as the peculiar goon who is adept in the art of “bahane banana” (making excuses). Though sometimes the heavy North Indian accent takes the better of him, through most parts he appears convincing and a constant source of delight with his eclectic mix of one liners and dramatic dialogues.

Esha Gupta as the leading lady has just one job- to look beautiful and she does that inexplicably well with a perennial smile pasted on her face for most part of the movie; did someone say acting? Well if a few scowls and some tears with weirdly delivered lines mean acting then Miss Gupta has nailed it. If not, then…. Let’s leave it at that.

The real stunner was Randeep as the bad-ass cop. He appears sinister when he needs to and just as easily swivels back to the emote chair. If you haven’t seen the “D” man before then this is your chance to catch him in action.

For a few other muscle flexing cops in Bollywood, this lean mean drunk cop has a few lessons to teach (and he has a bullet stuck in his head!!)  The rest of the cast are credible too but sometimes Manish Chaudhary as the evil boss goes over the top with his settled frowns and weird stares. Not scary just odd!

The music
Jannat 2 is another musical marvel much like its predecessor. Songs like “Tu Hi Mera” or “Zara Sa” will surely capture your auditory fancies.

The background scores are also much in tune with the rest of the movie lending a subtle but effective punch.

So should you go in search of this Jannat?

Well the movie is an entertainer despite some cheap banal frills and if you enjoy some gripping action or some age old Bolly romance Jannat 2 is the one for you.

But if you are the rather serious type who demands depth without distractions then stay away from the theatres this weekend.

Rakhi Sawant at the Radio Mirchi Awards 2012

Rakhi Sawant, the actress known for her big assets and a bigger mouth, has once again proved that she knows no restraints when it comes to opening her mouth. After giving free advices to Rahul Gandhi and Baba Ramdev, the girl now turns to Kareena Kapoor to advise her about whom she should marry and why she should do item numbers.
At the Radio Mirchi Awards 2012, Rakhi said: “I love Kareena and I am really happy that Kareena will get readymade kids. No, Kareena! You deserve a better husband! You deserve Shahid Khan.” She was then corrected by the reporters that he is Shahid Kapoor.
Rakhi said: “Khan, Kapoor, they’re the same na… I am saying it from the very first day that Shahid Kapoor is the best! He is a bachelor and she (Kareena) is a spinster! You know, I like Saif, but his kids are so old!”
Rakhi Sawant even had an opinion about Kareena not signing for item number. “I didn’t like the fact that Kareena said that she doesn’t like the tag of an item girl; then why did she do an item number.
She’s my favourite actress, I love her! But why doesn’t she like being called an item girl? Even Aishwarya Rai, who is the best actress ever in Bollywood, has done item numbers, even Katrina is doing them, so she (Kareena) should understand,” she said.
This was not all for Rakhi Sawant at the award function. She even had a war of eyes with Mika Singh. When Mika walked the red carpet and spotted Rakhi talking to the media persons, he went ahead and joined Rakhi Sawant to pose for the photos. Initially, Rakhi did not object, but when Mika tried to get too close to her and even touched her, Rakhi cast a glaring glance at him. Thereafter, Mika kept himself in check.
Well, it is high time, Rakhi paid more attention to her sinking career than her publicity gimmicks!!
